Homemade Chocolate Hazelnut NutButter

This is for a full small mason jar full, about the same as a bigger jar of nutella. If you wanna make less just to try out then just half all measurements(I made a big batch as I bake & make other treats with it too)!

RECIPE:

  • 450g of Roasted Hazelnuts (can be bought already roasted or just raw & bake in the oven at 180C’ for 7-8 mins or until barely golden)
  • 3 tbs of good quality cocoa powder
  • 4 tbs Agave nectar (or honey but beware of runny honey ingredients!)
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla extract

Result, drippy nutella-esque goodness without all the bad stuff in! Now the texture is a lot more dry then actual nutella, but the taste is all there and surprisingly comparable considering it’s more then healthy ingredients! I love a little bit on toast over a scrape of butter, however I don’t lather it on like the above picture,  that was more so for an indulgent picture opportunity! You could use is as a baked treat topping, dollop it on your oatmeal or in baking itself like for last weeks brownies ;-) I wanted to make a big batch of it just to accommodate my random baking impulses I get during the week. Love these little mason jars too, I think I pick up one every time I’m in TK Maxx!
